Miley Cyrus Haircut Video Tutorial

Hey guys Steven a salon guy here and I'm back with a new mannequin makeover where I make over a mannequin that god knows what I've done too in the past and with this mannequin I've pretty much butchered this thing I've got all sorts of really interesting layers in here I don't know what's going on but I'm going to make over this mannequin so the best thing about doing makeovers on anybody is taking a look at the end result what do you want to have you know what do you want to see what do you want to do for that person's life how do you want to change it for the better and you know what are you going for a sleek look you want something more creative and edgy as you can see here this mannequin who knows what we're going to do but I'm gonna show you guys what I'm gonna do what I think is gonna look best on this mannequin and we're definitely gonna have some fun

Let's go okay I figured out the kind of look that I'm going for now I just saw Miley Cyrus about two months ago at mercedes-benz Fashion Week and I was pretty close to her about like maybe 15 feet away and I was staring at her hair the whole time going wow she's got a really cool haircut so I'm a big fan of short hair and here's a quick kind of candid paparazzi shot of her that I got a couple of them actually what she was kind of walking in front of me and I love her hair and so what I've done is decided to go with a Miley Cyrus type inspired haircut which is really short edgy and it looks really great on her so don't be afraid to go short so here's what I've done with the mannequin and what I'm planning I'm doing so I've got basically three sections that are clipped off one on the side here on each side and I went from breeze the recession line which is the corners here and I created a diamond type parting right to the middle here and separated from the front in the back which is the division line which separates the front in the back gives you a clearer map of where you want to go in the cutting I'm just going to go real short I'm going to do this by hand take it down really tight in through here leave a little bit of length to the top here make it really edgy and punky and that's it.

I'm going to show you guys how to get started on the first section so I have my section which is the vision point the separates in front the back so I'm starting here and I'm going to do diagonal horizontal all the way throughout the back so I'm going to repeat this all the way to these other side of the head I've completed this the right side of backside of the head and again I went in diagonal horizontal sections just to get a good core base as far as a shorter length in through here and now I'm going to continue all the way into here then I'm going to actually go over it and do some scissor over comb just to really blend this all in and make it nice and smooth I've completed the back and now that it's pretty much dry for the most part I'm going to come in and use a scissor that's made for dry cutting by Mizutani and go over everything and do scissor over comb just to kind of really blend everything in nice I finished with the complete back now and I'm going to connect this right in through the side.

What I'm going to do is actually take this whole chunk right here and just cut it off just give it of it now I'm going to bring this down and then work this in so Dorko might just get rid of it and then connect this with the back again take this whole section like so and take it off in one shot so I'm going to take this clip out here and then I'm going to connect the back here into the front I mean I'm going to make this pretty short in through here and leave a little length into the top but I'm going to take this down pretty short oh my god I created David Bowie look at this thing this is think this looks like David Bowie this mannequin what I'm going to do is I'm going to texturize the heck out of this and I'm going to bring out the big-time jaws scissors again here these monsters for dry cutting and I'm just going to really get in there and texturize it and really just take this little tighter if you're here do it all by hand but as you can see it's got a really cool pretty nice shape to it you know and you can do a lot with this so I'm just kind of a free-for-all and go nuts on this so check it out so what I'm doing now is I'm using my blending shears or thinning shears to kind of blend the top and the sides together this is also great when you're doing dry cutting cuz it really gets rid of any sort of lines or any sit it really helps with blending so I highly suggest doing this when the hair is just about 100 percent dry because it really helps polish off the haircut and blend everything together also taking this twisting it doing little cuts into it like this on the tip helps give it a lot of cool texture too.

I'm just finishing up I'm going to blow-dry it a little bit and I'm going to finish it with some paste and we're gonna have our hair cut so I'm going to use my plum Mitchell Express eye on dry style which is my favorite dryer and give it kind of a rough dry and then I'm going to use some product in it I'm going to use the tea tree shaping cream which is one of my favorite products for dry hair it's great because it doesn't give a lot a lot of whole but just enough to where it gives it that great texturized look I love using this for men and women so here's the amount that I used maybe a quarter sized rub it through your hands like so and then start working the product in now when you're working any sort of paste in you really want to be aggressive and just like with the haircut you want to really get in there and piece it out and just have some fun with it that's the one cool thing I really like about this you know when you're cutting mannequin heads you know they're not it's it's human hair but it lays very differently on a mannequin so if this was on a real person it would probably lay a lot flatter and you probably get even better results but I think this looks awesome when you're cutting short hair don't be afraid to go really short have some fun with it and we are finished so I like I said on a mannequin it's not going to be exactly the same as it would if it was a real person but it's human hair I think this is an awesome haircut for men and women it's not that you got to be really aggressive with it just go for it use a lot of texturizing techniques on top the pace is what's really going to help this and I think this is really awesome so thanks so much for watching and I'll see you guys again for another hair cutting tutorial with the salon guy
